Bastide anglaise créée en 1284. Classée "Grand Site National" avec Biron et Capdrot et "Plus Beaux Villages de France". Monpazier est considérée comme étant la Bastide la plus belle et la mieux conservée.

It is archetypal of medieval bastides, it has kept its perfectly octogonal medieval plan.
Monpazier was founded in 1284 by Edward the 1st Of England. The central square is surrounded by 14th and 15th arcades and the covered market has kept grain measures.

Monpazier is het dichtst bijzijnde dorp, waar een supermarkt is. Enkele gezellige winkelstraten leiden je naar het hart van het dorp. Een groot vierkant plein, typisch voor het oude vestingstadje.
